Our Story

From Jeweller to Hotelier

The Birks story began in 1879, when Henry Birks opened his first boutique in Montréal. What started as a single storefront soon grew into Maison Birks — a name synonymous with craftsmanship, innovation, and luxury across Canada. Nearly 140 years later, this legacy was reimagined when the flagship building at Phillips Square opened its doors as Hotel Birks Montréal. Today, the hotel is both a tribute to the past and a celebration of the present, offering an experience rooted in heritage and defined by modern elegance.
